In January 2024 Kyrah Ayers’ appendix burst. Weeks later he was diagnosed with appendix cancer that had also spread to his colon. He immediately began chemotherapy treatments.

Appendix Cancer is categorized as “extremely rare”. Statistically 1 in every 500,000 people get this diagnosis.

For Appendix Cancer Awareness month Kyrah is putting on a series of events to raise awareness while sharing an encouraging story to help others get through their life’s challenges.

  • Share your work with the world! We'd be honored to hear your work. Do you want to step up to the microphone and stage to share your work? Sign up for the open mic section of this event and let the world hear your art.

  • Kyrah Ayers will share 12 poems representing his 12 Rounds of chemotherapy.

    The poems chosen represent optimism in the face of obstacles. They're intended to encourage others by transparently sharing the struggles.

  • Prior to the diagnosis, Kyrah Ayers released his first published body of poetry titled My Light which was a series of poems written over the last 20 years.
